Summer is beautiful… but comes with trade-offs.

June

  • Weather: Warm, long days
  • Crowds: High
  • Worth it? Yes, but book early

July

  • Weather: Hot

August (MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW THIS)

  • Weather: Hot
  • Crowds: Touristy, but locals leave
  • Downsides:
    • Some restaurants/shops actually close
    • City feels less “local”

Worth it?  Not ideal for first-time visitors

When to Avoid Paris

If you want the best experience, try to avoid:

August

  • Closures
  • Less local feel

Late July crowds

  • Packed attractions
  • Long lines

Peak holidays (if you hate crowds)

  • Christmas week
  • New Year’s

Best Time for Hotels (Save vs Spend)

  • Cheapest: January, February, November
  • Best value: March, October
  • Most expensive: June, July, September

Check hotel prices early — they fluctuate a lot.

When Should YOU Go?

If it’s your first time in Paris and you have options:

Go in May or September

You’ll get:

  • Great weather
  • Walkable days
  • Fewer crowds than peak summer

Let’s be honest, there’s no “bad” time to visit Paris — but there is a BEST time for you.

If you want:

  • Beautiful + balanced → May / September
  • Budget → Winter
  • Vibe → October

Truthfully though, the best time to visit Paris is when you can actually GO! Most people don’t have the luxury of picking and choosing the exact time of year to travel.

I totally get it.  I have kids, and summer is pretty much the only time of year that we can travel for a chunk of time. It is what it is!
